A teleprompter that follows your voice.
Most teleprompters scroll at a fixed speed, so you end up chasing the text. Browser Prompter listens instead: it highlights the word you are saying and keeps it on the reading line. Pause, slow down, or skip ahead, and it follows.
Free. Works in Chrome, Edge, and Safari. No account.
How voice following works
Your browser turns speech into text
Voice following uses the speech recognition built into your browser. Browser Prompter never receives your audio.
Your words are matched to the script
The transcript is matched to your script, looking ahead so skipped or changed words do not stop it.
The current word stays on the reading line
The word you are saying is highlighted and scrolled to the reading line. Scroll by hand at any time; it picks up again a moment later.
Lost? Jump back in
Double-click any word to continue from there, or press Follow voice after scrolling.
Getting the best results
Use Chrome, Edge, or Safari
Voice following works in current Chrome, Edge, and Safari, best on a computer. Firefox does not offer speech recognition, so use Autoscroll there.
Speak naturally
You do not need to read slowly or exactly. Normal pace, small rewordings, and skipped words are fine.
Use a decent microphone
A headset or a mic close to you in a quiet room gives the most accurate tracking.
Prefer a fixed pace?
Switch to Autoscroll and set the speed with the slider or the arrow keys.
Questions, answered.
Where does my audio go?
Your browser’s speech recognition may send audio to your browser’s maker (Google for Chrome, Microsoft for Edge, Apple for Safari) to turn it into text. Your script never leaves your browser, and Browser Prompter never receives your audio.
Which languages does it understand?
English (US and UK), Dutch, German, French, and Spanish. Pick yours in the language menu next to the Voice and Autoscroll toggle.
Is it free?
Yes, voice following is part of the free teleprompter. No account needed.
